Patches of rash or bubbles or pimple-like? Bumpy, painful, on left side only?

Hi all. My husband has had this strange rash for a few days now. He hasn't been in any pools nor on vacation. He's sleeping in his usual bed, we use the same detergent. The location of the rash is on his left side under the arm (not directly) and the same level as his nipple. The other patches are on the back left shoulder. The are about 1 inch in diameter and it looks like a cluster of pimples (but dry and painful). It's painful even when you don't touch and the area around it as well. The rest of the area is not red, it feels like a sunburn but not red. It also looks like something kids can have but again, he didn't go in a pool nor did anything unusual. I checked on the internet and it looks like shingles any help?Patches of rash or bubbles or pimple-like? Bumpy, painful, on left side only?
he should go to the dr because if it is shingles that can be spread to the family.. and if its not they can give him some cream to clear it up.. this is what i found on shingles

Shingles (herpes zoster) is an outbreak of rash or blisters on the skin that is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox 鈥?the varicella-zoster virus. The first sign of shingles is often burning or tingling pain, or sometimes numbness or itch, in one particular location on only one side of the body. After several days or a week, a rash of fluid-filled blisters, similar to chickenpox, appears in one area on one side of the body. Shingles pain can be mild or intense. Some people have mostly itching; some feel pain from the gentlest touch or breeze. The most common location for shingles is a band, called a dermatome, spanning one side of the trunk around the waistline. Anyone who has had chickenpox is at risk for shingles. Scientists think that in the original battle with the varicella-zoster virus, some of the virus particles leave the skin blisters and move into the nervous system. When the varicella-zoster virus reactivates, the virus moves back down the long nerve fibers that extend from the sensory cell bodies to the skin. The viruses multiply, the tell-tale rash erupts, and the person now has shingles.

For most healthy people, the lesions heal, the pain subsides within 3 to 5 weeks, and the blisters leave no scars. However, shingles is a serious threat in immunosuppressed individuals 鈥?for example, those with HIV infection or who are receiving cancer treatments that can weaken their immune systems. People who receive organ transplants are also vulnerable to shingles because they are given drugs that suppress the immune system.

A person with a shingles rash can pass the virus to someone, usually a child, who has never had chickenpox, but the child will develop chickenpox, not shingles. A person with chickenpox cannot communicate shingles to someone else. Shingles comes from the virus hiding inside the person's body, not from an outside source.

and yes you can pass it on it says in the info above usually to children who have not had chickenpox!!

dont know if thats what it is hope this helpsPatches of rash or bubbles or pimple-like? Bumpy, painful, on left side only?
SHINGLES IS NOT CONTAGIOUS!!!!! END OF STORY. Report Abuse

The source below may help you diagnose that skin rash.
Shingles is not contagious, first of all. It's related to the chicken pox virus and is actually a form of herpes. It is painful, if he is sluggish and can't seem to wake up completely then I'd say seek medical attention. There isn't anything you can do about Shingles except let it run it's course.

Get him to a Dr. The condition you decribe does sound like shingels. Untreated it can be very painful. It is a nerve disorder. A topical treatment and oral medication for the pain will help.
